Constipation relief varies depending on the cause of constipation.

Almost always constipation can be treated easily with the right constipation remedies

Constipation is so frequent that there is hardly an individual, who has never been affected by it. While generally the causes of constipation are pretty trivial and there is no need to worry about the irregular bowel movements, in rare cases constipation could require special medical attention. However, generally constipation is not the consequence of a disease and can be cured with easy remedies.

Fiber Can Cure Constipation

One of the most frequent reasons of constipation is a poorly balanced diet – i.e. a diet, which lacks fiber but is rich in animal fat or refined sugar. In this case the solution is easy – just make the necessary dietary adjustments and constipation relief comes quickly. There might be a need of a laxative first (if the sufferer is seriously constipated) but after the initial relief, then all it takes is to eat foods rich in fiber, to drink more water and to exercise.

Fluids Are Great Against Constipation

Not drinking enough water and fluids in general is another common constipation cause. While a person might not feel dehydrated, his or her stools could become dry because of the improper fluid balance in his or her body. Drinking more water, and especially fruit juices is a great way to get constipation relief. Eating soup is another alternative.

Exercise Also Helps To Treat Constipation

Lack of exercise is another common reason for constipation. When a diet low in fiber and fluids is combined with lack of exercise, even the most regular bowel movements will become irregular. Exercise is great, no matter if a person needs it as a constipation relief or not, so there is no excuse to start (and continue) exercising.

Use Laxatives

Laxatives are the heavy weapons of constipation treatment. Food is also a laxative but generally laxatives are understood as pills, liquids and other remedies one gets from the pharmacist. There are many over the counter laxatives but generally a doctor should tell when a laxative is needed and when other ways are to be used. One of the dangers of laxatives is that a person can get used to them and this is the main reason why they should be prescribed and not taken at one's will.

Colon Cleanses Are One More Alternative

Colon cleanses are yet another way to deal with constipation. Many people have the habit to have a colon cleanse now and then even without having constipation because colon cleanses are generally useful but still, it is much better if a doctor says that a colon cleanse is necessary for constipation than when one decides on his or her own to do it.

These remedies work both for adults and children. However, since some extra care is never useless with children, consulting a paediatrician, especially before giving laxatives, is mandatory. Additionally, for really serious cases, when the intestines themselves are injured, surgery might be required but since this is relatively rare, it is not mentioned as a way to treat constipation.
