Here is an article describing and explaining the importance of cleaning out your colon.

I bet you didn't know that the colon is much like a garbage can. This is where all the waste products from the foods and drinks you intake in a day end up.

The colon has two linings, one is quite long and open; the other is tighter and slightly smaller. Health care specialists are constantly pushing you to clean out your colon and here is why:

Many people enjoy life and eat a pretty healthy diet, while others tend to snack heavily on junk food. Food that is basically loaded with toxins! These particular toxins: salt, preservatives, sugar and food coloring make the body slow down. For example, if you are chewing down three donuts and gulping two sweet coffees in the morning, you will back your digestive track up for at least three days.

Your body slows down to the point of a crawl, if that, so the sugary salty foods with the preservatives and high fatty oils are laying around in your system for days and days collecting bacteria.

Moreover, if you smoke or drink you are adding to the bacterium that is already forming within your lower intestine on its way to the colon. How dangerous do you think these types of toxins can be?

In order to help your body digest better, you could switch your diet and eat more veggies and less high-carb foods, and avoid substances with high oil content and preservatives.

These are just not good for your system. Though you may not be able to change your daily or weekly habits in just a few days, so there is a little something that you can eat or drink to help your body cleanse it's self.
